Exams April 6 & 7

May Martin from Motherwell Scotland will be visiting the studio on behalf of the British Association of Teachers of Dancing (BATD) on April 6 and 7th to examine our students.

We encourage the dancers to take annual tests to ensure you that they are receiving proper instruction and give them a memento of their years of training.

There are four amateur exam segments: Highland, Scottish Nationals, Jig & Hornpipe, and Theory. The levels will be explained in detail, and time schedule outlined, in a special newsletter about exams.

There are also 3 levels of Professional Exams in both Highland and Scottish Nationals (incl. Jig & Hornpipe): Associate, Member and Fellow.

If your dancer has any needs or you have any questions don’t hesitate to call or email (macleodoflewis@hotmail.com).

We will hold a parents workshop before the exam days.

Booster Association News

There was a meeting of the MacLeod of Lewis Booster Association at the studio on February 7th.

Chair Sharon Hay-Pole led a variety of discussions surrounding fundraising, general studio events and use of the Booster funds.

The Booster Association was formed to raise special funds to support the dancers in their pursuit of further training, competition expenses, special costume or other needs and more.

It was agreed by all to undertake several fundraisers over the year. The first being chocolate bar sales (it is hoped each family will take a box of 30 bars) and another a dance-a-thon.

It may not be possible for every family to participate in every event but, being a small group it was agreed that everyone’s support was needed. To this end, it was agreed that if a family does not wish to take part in a particular fundraiser they may choose to opt-out by making a $20 donation to the fund.

Every dancer will benefit from the fund at one time or another .

There is a new bulletin board in the waiting area to keep everyone abreast of the upcoming events, funds raised and their use.
