The
MacLeod of Lewis Dancers have been invited to participate in the
2003 Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Edinburgh Scotland. This
prestigious event is held annually on the castle grounds each
evening for a month in front of an enthusiastic sold-out crowd of
9,000 spectators. This is an exciting invitation as overseas
Highland Dancers are usually asked, at best, every 4 to 5 years.
The cast is made up of bands and performing groups from around the
world. The army barracks style housing means this invitation is
extended only to dancers 18 and over.
BUT,
closer to home we have also been invited to provide dancers for
the Hamilton International Tattoo at Copps Coliseum (June),
the Rochester USA Military Tattoo (July) and the Kingston
Historical Tattoo at Old Fort Henry (August).
Sign
up sheets will soon be posted for those wishing to participate.

The
Christmas season will soon be here and we have two performances
booked. Lakeshore Place has asked us back on December 7th
and a party held at the Hamilton General Hospital is
anxious to have us revisit on December 13th. Please make sure to
let us know if you are available on the sheet on the announcements
board in the waiting area or send us an e-mail.
Robbie
Burns concerts will keep us hopping in January so watch the board
for "Dancers Wanted" notices.
N.B.
If you know of any groups or events looking for entertainment,
don’t hesitate to ask. We can provide a show with lots of
variety or be part of a bigger event. While payment is appreciated
we do some voluntary dates.
Competition
Success
The
Fall competition season is almost over but we couldn’t be more
proud of the awards the dancers have won over the past few months.
For those not initiated into the world of competitive dancing: -
dancers are divided by age and into five categories: Primary (4-6
year olds),
Beginner, Novice, Intermediate and Premier. After Primary (strictly
by age) .......2
